Objectives

The microbiological assessment of juices and nectars is a common activity in the industry to support product quality and safety. Just as the Methods of Analysis Commission of the IFU maintains a catalogue of chemical standard methods specifically designed for the juice industry then the Microbiological Working Group develops and supports a set of Microbiological methods, recommendations and guidance documents. The group consists of experts from processing & bottling juice companies, institutes and microbiological equipment & media suppliers. It is divided into a Technical Board and Advisory Group. As with the Methods of Analysis Commission non-members of the group can enter into correspondence with the group on microbiological issues which could be about current standards or the development of new ones. .
